Tuna Steak Fusion
A delicious low carb fusion of oriental and greek style cooking. These tuna steaks are lightly drizzled in an oriental style sauce and served with mediterranean style fried halloumi cheese cubes with tastey eastern veggies. Add this flavourful meal to your diet for speedy weight loss!
Ingredients
- Boneless Tuna Steaks - 2
- Soy Sauce - 64g (4 tablespoons)
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon (finely grated)
- Garlic - 3 cloves (finely sliced)
- Dried Oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Baby Pak Choy - 100g
- Asparagus - 100g
- Halloumi - 250g (or use fresco)
- Onions - 10g (1 tablespoon)
- Jalapeño - 1 medium
- Olive Oil - 6 tablespoons
- Salt and Pepper - 1 pinch
Instructions
Steak Sauce
- Finely grate the ginger.
- Prepare the sauce in a small bowl or cup by mixing the soy sauce with the finely grated ginger.
- [OPTIONAL] You can add half a teaspoon of sweetener if you'd prefer a sweeter taste.
Mediterranean Style Halloumi ( NOTE: You can replace this with fresco cheese )
- Take the halloumi out of the packet and wash under cold water (otherwise it will be too salty). Pad it dry with paper towels.
- Cut the cheese in to small cubes and grind some fresh black pepper over them.
- Finely slice a clove of garlic.
- Cut the jalapeño into slices and dice the onions.
- Set a frying pan to medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Add the onions. Cook until they become translucent.
- Add the garlic and jalapeños. Stir for another 15 seconds.
- Add the cubes of halloumi cheese to the pan.
- Stir occasionally until the cheese starts to brown.
- Add the oregano and stir the pan.
- Separate the cheese onto 2 plates.
Baby Pak Choy
- Trim and discard the thick base of the pak choy.
- Slice the pak choy into smaller sections.
- Finely slice 2 cloves of garlic.
- Set a frying pan to medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
- Add the garlic and pak choy together into the pan.
- Add a pinch of salt to the pak choy.
- Stir the pak choy for a few minutes until it becomes a vibrant green. Don't cook too much!
- Separate the pak choy on both plates (we'll be putting the tuna steaks on top of the pak choy ).
Asparagus
- Set a frying pan to medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
- Add the asparagus to the pan.
- Add a pinch of salt to the asparagus
- Stir the asparagus every minute or so until it becomes a vibrant green ( similar to the pak choy ).
- Place the asparagus in the middle of each plate.
Tuna Steaks
- Add 2 table spoons of olive oil to a frying pan on medium heat.
- Place the tuna steaks to the pan.
- Wait 3 - 4 minutes and flip the tuna steaks.
- Wait another 3 - 4 minutes and flip the steaks again.
- Drizzle the sauce over the steaks and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Place the tuna steaks on top of the pak choy on each plate.
